General Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 1 June 2026
Please read these Terms & Conditions carefully; by entering Fun Zone, purchasing any product/ticket, or using our website (fun-zone.co.nz), you acknowledge and agree to abide by these rules and follow the instructions of our staff. These general terms apply to all visitors and activities unless superseded by specific activity terms.
You warrant and declare that you are at least 18 years of age and possess the legal authority to enter into this agreement and to use the booking system in accordance with all terms and conditions herein.
You are responsible for all members of your team and you need to ensure that they adhere to the terms and conditions of this booking and subsequent activities.
You also warrant that all information supplied by you in the booking system is true and accurate. If false information is provided and we are unable to contact you, your booking will be cancelled immediately.
1. Definitions
- COMPANY: FBH Ltd, the operating business of Fun Zone
- VENUE: The premises of Fun Zone in Hamilton, New Zealand
- WEBSITE: “fun-zone.co.nz”
- WE/US/OUR: Refers to the COMPANY and its staff
- YOU/CUSTOMER: Refers to any visitor, participant, or person purchasing tickets/services
- ACTIVITY/ACTIVITIES: Refers to games, attractions, and services offered at the VENUE
- BOOKING: means this agreement in which YOU reserve a time slot for an ACTIVITY of the COMPANY
2. General Conditions of Entry & Participation
Acceptance of Rules
Entry into the VENUE constitutes your acceptance of these Terms & Conditions. Failure to comply may result in removal from the VENUE without a refund.
Assumption of Risk
Participation in ACTIVITIES at the VENUE involves inherent risks (collisions, falls, physical exertion, sensory immersion). By participating, you acknowledge and voluntarily assume all risks associated with these ACTIVITIES. The COMPANY is not liable for personal injury or property loss/damage, except where caused by our proven negligence.
Staff Instructions
You must follow all verbal and written instructions given by VENUE staff at all times for your safety and the safety of others.
Right to Refuse Entry / Remove
We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove any person who:
- Behaves in an unsafe, disruptive, illegal, or offensive manner.
- Appears to be under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs.
- Fails to comply with these Terms & Conditions or staff instructions.
- Poses a health risk to others (displaying symptoms of infectious illness).
Age Restrictions & Supervision
- General supervision requirements apply: Children under 5 must be actively supervised by a responsible parent or guardian (aged 18+) at all times within the VENUE.
- Specific ACTIVITIES have minimum age or height requirements (see Section 4).
- The supervising adult is responsible for the actions and safety of those under their care.
Health & Skill Level
You are responsible for assessing your own fitness, health and skill level before participating. Do not attempt activities beyond your perceived capabilities or if you have a medical condition that could be aggravated; participate responsibly.
Personal Property
We are not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged personal property. Use storage bays where provided.
3. General Venue Rules & Code of Conduct
Appropriate Footwear
Safe, enclosed footwear is required for most ACTIVITIES. High heels or bare feet are not permitted in activity areas.
No Running
Running is prohibited throughout the general areas of the VENUE.
Respectful Conduct
Be considerate of other guests. No offensive or inappropriate language. Intimidation or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated. Be aware of your surroundings. No physical contact during competitive games like Laser Tag.
Food & Drink
No outside food or beverages are permitted inside the VENUE. Food and drink purchased on-site must be consumed in designated areas only. (Exception: Approved items for Party Room Bookings — see Section 4.4).
Alcohol & Drugs
The VENUE is an alcohol and drug-free environment. Entry is prohibited for individuals noticeably under the influence.
Smoking / Vaping
Smoking and vaping are prohibited anywhere on the VENUE premises.
Equipment Use
Use all equipment and attractions only as intended and instructed. Report any malfunctions to staff immediately. Do not misuse or intentionally damage VENUE property or displays.
4. Specific Activity Rules
4.1 Mini Golf
- Be cautious and aware of other players on the course. Allow faster groups to play through where safe.
- No running around the course.
- Do NOT climb on, sit on, or touch display items or non-play features.
- Do NOT intentionally damage the course, putting greens, obstacles, or garden areas.
- Use putters and balls sensibly and safely. Only hit the ball gently. No swinging putters above knee height.
- You are welcome to take photos, but all rules must be followed. You are liable for any damages caused.
4.2 Laser Tag
- Absolutely NO physical contact with other players or equipment.
- NO running, jumping, or climbing within the arena. Move cautiously.
- NO sitting, kneeling, or lying down on the floor during the game.
- Appropriate, enclosed footwear must be worn at all times.
- Maximum player limits apply: Typically 20 players for team games, 10 for solo games (subject to change by staff).
- Follow all game rules explained during the briefing. Keep both hands on the phaser unit.
- Report any equipment issues to staff immediately.
4.3 Escape Rooms

4.4 Party Rooms
Please refer to the separate Fun Zone Party Room Terms & Conditions tab. Exception Policy: While outside food is generally prohibited (Section 3), Party Room bookings are permitted to bring a Birthday Cake, fruit platter, and bottled water, provided they are pre-approved by staff and consumed within the designated Party Room space.
5. Bookings, Tickets & Payments
Ticket Validity
Tickets and activity bookings are valid only for the date and time specified.
No Cash Redemption
Tickets, vouchers, or any unused portion of a booking cannot be exchanged or redeemed for cash.
Payments
Payments for activities or entry must generally be made in advance or upon arrival as required and can be made with EFTPOS, credit card or cash.
Booking Deposits
For all bookings over $300 we do require a 25% non-refundable deposit to secure the booking. These can be sent out via payment link, made on-site, or by invoice (with Venue Managerial discretion) and will be discussed during booking confirmation.
Consumer Data Privacy
We do not store full credit card details. Online payments are processed via our secure third-party provider (Windcave / Payment Express — refer to their privacy policy). We handle your personal booking information in accordance with New Zealand’s Privacy Act.
Reporting Issues
Any concerns during your visit should be reported immediately to the Supervisor on Duty.
6. Refund & Cancellation Policy
Walk-in / Activity Purchases
Sales for immediate entry or activity participation made at the VENUE are final. No refunds are provided for change of mind or if you choose not to complete an activity.
Pre-Booked Activities (excl. Escape Rooms)
- Total or partial refunds can be issued up to 48 hours before the date of the session but may be subject to a small admin cost (issued by the Banking Provider) which is needed to recover the funds.
- No refunds will be issued for sessions cancelled less than 48 hours before the agreed time of arrival at Fun Zone.
- If a refund is requested within 48 hours of the agreed time of arrival at Fun Zone it is at the discretion of the venue manager whether the session may be rescheduled for another time without additional charge.
Venue Closure
If we are forced to close the VENUE or cancel an activity due to unforeseen circumstances, we will offer rescheduling or a credit, where possible.
7. Photography & Videography
Guests may take photos/videos for personal use in general areas, but must respect the privacy of others. Photography/videography is strictly prohibited inside Escape Rooms.
We may take photos/videos for promotional purposes. Your presence implies consent. Notify staff if you do not wish to be prominently featured.
8. Damage to Property
You may be held financially liable for any damage caused to VENUE property, equipment, or facilities due to negligence, misuse, or wilful misconduct by you or those under your supervision.
9. Governing Law
Risk
All guests enter and use the VENUE at their own risk. To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, the COMPANY is not liable for personal injury or loss of personal property.
Consumer Rights
These terms are subject to the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986; these terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Escape Room Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 8 April 2025
These specific Terms & Conditions apply to all participants of Escape Room games (“GAME”) at Fun Zone (“VENUE”) operated by FBH Ltd (“COMPANY,” “WE,” “US,” “OUR”). By making a booking (“BOOKING”) or participating in a GAME, you (“YOU,” “CUSTOMER”) agree to these terms, in addition to the General Fun Zone Terms & Conditions.
1. Booking & Legal Authority
Agreement
Making a BOOKING via our WEBSITE (fun-zone.co.nz) or in-person creates a binding agreement based on these terms.
Age & Authority
You warrant you are at least 18 years old and possess the legal authority to make this BOOKING for yourself and/or your team.
Team Responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring all members of your team understand and adhere to these Terms & Conditions.
Accurate Information
You warrant that all information supplied during booking is true and accurate. False information may lead to booking cancellation without refund.
2. Participation & Risk
Own Risk & Consent
You enter the VENUE premises and participate in the GAME voluntarily and at your own risk.
Medical Conditions
If you have any medical conditions (including but not limited to heart conditions, epilepsy, claustrophobia) or are pregnant, participation is at your own discretion and risk. Inform staff of potential concerns. The COMPANY cannot be held liable for any injury or exacerbation of conditions related to participation.
No Alcohol / Drugs
Participants must not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. We reserve the absolute right to deny entry or remove individuals/teams suspected of being under the influence, without refund.
Health
Do not participate if you have an infectious disease or are unwell in a way that could pose a risk to others.
Safety Instructions
You MUST follow all instructions given by COMPANY representatives before and during the GAME.
Physical Interaction
- Do NOT climb on furniture or set pieces.
- Do NOT use excessive physical force to open items, solve puzzles, or manipulate props.
- Do NOT attempt any action that could endanger yourself or others.
3. Game Rules & Conduct
Prohibited Items
The following items are strictly prohibited inside the GAME rooms:
- Bags, backpacks, purses.
- Mobile phones, cameras, video/audio recording equipment of any kind.
- Weapons of any kind (including knives, multi-tools, lighters).
- Outside food and beverages.
No Recording
Taking photos, videos, or audio recordings inside the GAME rooms is strictly forbidden. Violators will be removed immediately without refund and required to delete recordings.
Damage Liability
You are responsible and liable for the cost of repair or replacement if you or your team members negligently or wilfully damage COMPANY property, props, or equipment.
Game Duration
The standard GAME duration is 60 minutes (90 minutes for Over-Throne). This time starts after the briefing and will not be extended.
Smoking / Vaping
Prohibited on the entire premises.
4. Team Composition & Supervision
Minimum Players
Minimum 2 players required per room (3 players for Steampunk Submarine room). Individuals cannot play alone.
Minimum Age
Participants must be at least 10 years old to enter the Escape Rooms.
Supervision of Under 14s
Any participant aged 10 to 14 years (inclusive) MUST be accompanied inside the Escape Room by at least one paying adult (18+) participant per group. This adult is responsible for the supervision and conduct of the minors.
Adult Responsibility
The supervising adult(s) must actively monitor minors and are responsible for their behaviour and adherence to rules. We reserve the right to stop the GAME and remove the team (without refund) if behaviour is deemed unsafe, disruptive, or causes damage.
5. Arrival & Game Start
Punctuality
You MUST arrive on time for your booking slot.
Briefing Time
Please arrive approx. 10 minutes before your booked game time for check-in, item handover, and the mandatory briefing. Late arrival will result in reduced game time.
6. Payments & Refunds
Pre-Payment Required
Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your slot.
Strictly No Refunds
Once an Escape Room BOOKING is paid for, NO REFUNDS will be issued for cancellations, no-shows, late arrivals, change of mind, or if you choose to leave the game early.
Refusal / Removal
No refunds will be given if refused entry or removed for violating Terms & Conditions.
7. Room Surveillance
You acknowledge and agree that all GAME rooms are under constant video and audio surveillance for safety, security, game monitoring, and staff training purposes.
8. Language
The primary language of the GAME is English. Some puzzles will require English comprehension.
9. Force Majeure
The COMPANY is not liable for failure to provide the GAME due to events beyond our reasonable control (e.g., natural disasters, power outages, critical equipment failure, emergency evacuations). We will endeavour to reschedule or offer credit/refund at our discretion in such cases.
10. Governing Law & Amendments
These Terms & Conditions are governed by New Zealand law. The COMPANY reserves the right to amend these terms, with the current version available on the WEBSITE and/or at the VENUE.
Party Room Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: 1 May 2026
These specific Terms & Conditions apply to all Party Room bookings (“BOOKING”) at Fun Zone (“VENUE”) operated by FBH Ltd (“COMPANY”). By confirming a BOOKING, you (“CUSTOMER”) agree to these terms in addition to the Fun Zone General Terms & Conditions.
1. Booking & Legal Authority
Legal Authority
By making a BOOKING, you warrant that you are at least 18 years of age and possess the legal authority to enter this agreement for yourself and your group.
Lead Time
To ensure staff and catering preparation, BOOKINGS must be made a minimum of seven (7) days in advance.
Accuracy
You are responsible for providing accurate contact and guest information. The COMPANY is not liable for issues arising from incorrect details provided by the CUSTOMER.
2. Payments, Cancellations & Refunds
Deposit
A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to secure your slot. Bookings made via online checkout forgo this and require payment in full.
Final Payment
The remaining balance must be paid in full prior to the party start time. To avoid check-in delays, pre-payment (online or in-store) is highly recommended.
No-Shows
Failure to attend a BOOKING will result in the forfeiture of all payments made.
Refund Policy
- Cancellations made 48 hours or more prior to the BOOKING are eligible for a refund of the balance (excluding the 25% deposit).
- Cancellations made within 48 hours are non-refundable.
Rescheduling
Parties may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice, subject to VENUE availability at the discretion of the VENUE Management.
3. Guest Numbers & Adjustments
Minimum / Maximum
Party Packages are valid for 6 to 12 guests (excluding non-participating guardians to a maximum of 14 CUSTOMERS).
Adjusting Numbers
You may adjust guest numbers after the initial booking; however, final numbers must be confirmed 72 hours prior to the event date for catering purposes.
Eligibility
Guests must meet standard activity T&Cs (height/age). If a guest is ineligible for an activity, the CUSTOMER forfeits that portion of the package; no partial refunds or compensations will be provided.
4. Punctuality & Order of Events
Arrival Time
We recommend arriving 15–20 minutes early to allow for parking, guest gathering, and the mandatory check-in process at the front counter.
Fixed Schedule
The party combo must be completed in the specific order outlined in your confirmation email. We cannot adjust the sequence of activities on the day.
Room Access
Access to the Party Room is strictly limited to 45 minutes. This time starts from your scheduled slot and cannot be extended due to late arrival.
5. Food, Beverages & Allergies
Included Catering
Standard packages include Pizza, Fries, and Juice/Water.
Outside Food
No outside food or drinks are permitted, with the exception of bottled water, birthday cakes, or fruit platters which must be approved during pre-arrival communications with COMPANY or be at risk of disposal upon check-in.
Allergies
We offer dairy-free and vegetarian pizza options. The CUSTOMER must notify the COMPANY of any other allergies or dietary requirements at the time of booking or at least 72 hours prior to the event. While we take care with food prep, we cannot guarantee a 100% allergen-free environment.
6. Decorations & Cleaning
Permitted
Standard balloons are the only permitted decorations.
Prohibited
To prevent damage and excessive cleaning, the following are strictly prohibited:
- Adhesives, tape, tacks, or Blu-Tack on walls/surfaces.
- Confetti, helium, glitter-filled balloons, or “party poppers.”
- Paint or other craft materials.
Conclusion of Party Space
Prior to the end of their 45-minute Party Space, CUSTOMER is required to leave the VENUE in the same cleanliness as it was when they first arrived. This includes but is not limited to: removal of balloon decorations, using the provided trash bin for rubbish, taking leftover food stuff with them etc.
Damage / Cleaning Fees
The CUSTOMER is liable for any damage and negligence to the VENUE. The COMPANY reserves the right to charge a reasonable Cleaning Fee ($50.00 minimum) for excessive mess (e.g., confetti or food misuse).
7. Supervision & Safety
Adult Presence
At least one to two (1–2) responsible adults must be present in the Party Room at all times to supervise guests.
Responsible Guardian
The account name & details attached to the BOOKING must be that of the adult who will be present and responsible for all guests during the party package. These details must be updated at the responsibility of the CUSTOMER as to not void the BOOKING.
Conduct
Guests must follow all staff instructions. The COMPANY reserves the right to remove any guest for unsafe or disruptive behaviour without a refund.
Photography & Marketing
By completing a BOOKING, the CUSTOMER acknowledges and consents to the COMPANY taking photographs or videos during the event for promotional and marketing purposes. However, we respect your privacy: if you or your guests wish to opt out of promotional photography, please notify VENUE staff in writing or via email prior to the start of your BOOKING.
8. Digital Use & Intellectual Property
Currency & Pricing
All prices displayed on our website or in-venue are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and include GST unless stated otherwise.
Intellectual Property
All content, including text, logos, graphics, and images used by Fun Zone, is the property of FBH Ltd or its licensors and is protected by copyright laws. Reproduction without express written permission is prohibited.
Website Use
When using our online booking systems, you agree not to attempt unauthorised access or transmit malicious content.
Third-Party Links
Our services may involve links to third-party providers. The COMPANY is not responsible for the content, security, or practices of these external sites.
9. Force Majeure
The COMPANY is not liable for failure to provide the BOOKING or ACTIVITIES due to events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, power outages, critical equipment failure, or emergency evacuations. In such cases, we will offer a reschedule or credit at our discretion.
In the event of such unforeseen circumstances, it will be taken into account by the COMPANY in instances that affect CUSTOMER’s ability to attend their BOOKING.
10. Liability & Law
Total Liability Cap
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law, the COMPANY’s total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid for the specific BOOKING giving rise to that claim.
Risk
All guests enter and use the VENUE at their own risk. To the extent permitted by New Zealand law, the COMPANY is not liable for personal injury or loss of personal property.
Consumer Rights
These terms are subject to the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986; these terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
